Ida Louise Brisco, a woman whose life was marked by dedication, warmth, and an enduring spirit, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. Born on November 28, 1940, in Ferris, Texas, Ida’s journey was one of resilience and love, touching all who knew her with her generosity and infectious sense of humor.
A proud graduate of Dunbar High School’s Class of 1959 in Temple, Texas, Ida furthered her education at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. Her career began at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple in 1963. A move to Dallas in 1973 marked a significant advancement as she was promoted to dietetic technician, a role she fulfilled with unwavering commitment for 33 years. Throughout her dedicated service until her retirement in 1996, Ida earned multiple awards recognizing her excellence and passion, embodying the true spirit of service.
Ida’s personality was a vibrant blend of fashion sense, wit, care, and generosity. She was known for her impeccable style and her ability to lighten the heaviest moments with a joke, ensuring those around her always felt loved and valued. Her proudest accomplishments centered on her beloved family and the Woman of the Year Awards she received within her church community, honors that reflected her devotion both at home and in faith.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cathy Bowie and Vickie Lewis, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Her sister, Bobbie Mills, also mourns the loss of a treasured sibling. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Elmore Brisco, and her parents, Delilah House and Johnny Cox. The memories of her grandparents, Joe and Ida McBride, who helped shape the foundation of her life, are held close by all who loved her.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones to a viewing on May 8, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Homes in Dallas, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Refreshing Springs Church of God in Christ in Lancaster, Texas, providing an opportunity to share stories and honor the beautiful impact Ida made on her community. Burial will follow on May 11, 2026, at 2:15 PM at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
