Obituary

On October 7, 1936, in scenic rural Smith County in East Texas, Lee and Olivia Webb Timms welcomed their second child, Hubbard Bernett ("H.B.") Timms. H.B. joined his firstborn sister, Jacqueline. Later, younger brothers Webster and Reginald were born. H.B. grew up on the family's 200-plus acre farm where all siblings were productive contributors to the family's community, social, and financial growth. H.B. graduated from Jackson High School in Tyler, Texas where he played a little basketball. First son, Ricky was born in November 1961. After graduation, H.B. worked at a hospital in Tyler, TX.

Answering the call of the bright lights of "Big D," H.B. headed west taking a job at Parkland Hospital, long before joining the Texas Instruments workforce. In Dallas, H.B. met Frances "Ann" Dunn who became Ann Timms. To this union, two sons, Hubbard, Jr. and Hubbard III were born. H.B. was widowed early with the death of Ann in August 1978.

H.B.'s cousin introduced him to his future wife, the young Doris Yvonne Jenson who worked with her at Carter High School. H.B. and Doris were married on June 2, 1979. This union produced Kedrick, Kristina, and Kion.

H.B. had earlier joined Carver Heights Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Tyler Carter. In 1986, he became a charter member of the Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Karry Don Wesley, faithfully attending until his health failed. H.B. retired from Texas Instruments after 30 years and briefly worked at Antioch after retirement. He lost his companion, friend, and confidante when Doris transitioned on December 14, 2010.

For those who knew him, H.B. wore several hats: Daddy, H.B., Mr. Cool, Mr. Timms, and Paw Paw. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on July 30, 2022, at Charlton Methodist Hospital.

H.B. was preceded in death by his parents, wives Ann and Doris, son, Butch, and brother Webster. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Ricky (Frederica), Hubbard, Jr., Kedrick (CaRita), Kristina (Fernando, companion), and Kion (Lexus, companion); sister Jacqueline, and brother Reginald; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, including his weekly prayer group.
