Herman G. Carr was born September 23, 1938 to the late Tommie Lee Carr, Sr. and the late Ola Mae Campbell Carr.

He attended W.R. Banks High School in Grapeland, Texas. Herman confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized and untied with the Cedar Branch Baptist Church. After graduating from high school he moved to Galveston, Texas and relocated to Dallas, Texas. He was married to the late Frances Hines Carr. He later married Mrs. Maurine Stephens Carr and through this union of 47 years they were blessed with six children.

Herman was a member of Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, Galveston, Texas where he served as an usher, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Tx and Calvary Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Tx.

After an extended illness he passed away peacefully.

Herman is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Maurine Carr, and his children, Mr. Alton Stephens, Dallas, TX, Ms. Babette Carr Lemons, Galveston, TX, Mr. Bruton (Brigitte) Stephens, Mrs. Andree Stephens (Marcus) Steele, Ms. Minola Carr and Ms. Iola Carr (Rodney Griffin) all of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by siblings: brother, Mr. Clyde Carr; sisters, Mrs. Bertha (Rev. Eric J.) Young and Mrs. Verdie Tryon all of Dallas, TX; one sister in law, Mrs. Edwina Carr, Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommie Lee Carr, Sr. and Lawrence Carr, Sr.; other survivors include 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family. Also, a special classmate and friend, Mr. Bennie Lewis Johnson.
