Herman Wilson Brown, Sr.
"Nookie"
Herman Wilson Brown, Sr. was born on April 11, 1941, to the union of Gus Brown and Doreatha
Dupar Brown in Simmesport, Louisiana.
Herman accepted Christ at an early age at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Simmesport,
under the leadership of Reverend Jack Washington, Sr.
Herman graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in May 1960. He attended
Southern University and Barber School.
Herman married Eva Lou (Tina) Antoine in 1964 and moved to Dallas. They had two sons,
Larry Goodman and Herman Brown, Jr.
Herman retired as a Warehouse Supervisor from Sara Lee after 40 years of service.
Herman loved to work on cars and cut hair. On any given day, there were people lined up for
his services.
Herman is preceded in death by his father, mother, his wife, Eva Lou Brown, both sons, Larry
Goodman and Herman Brown, Jr., and his brothers, Chester Brown, Clifton Brown, and Burvin
Brown.
Herman leaves to cherish his memories: his brothers, Edray (Harriette) Brown of Lancaster,
Tx., Donovan (Clarice) Brown of Simmesport, Louisiana, and one sister, Tangie Harrell of
Marksville, Louisiana; along with other family and friends
