Obituary

Helen Ruth Wrightsil, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful friend, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on February 9, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on October 19, 1944, in Gilmer, Texas, to the proud parents Wade "Buddy" Smith and Margaret Smith.

Helen embodied a spirit of kindness, compassion, and quiet strength that touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a heart for serving others and found great joy in caring for her family and community. Her warm smile, gentle words, and nurturing nature made her a source of comfort and encouragement to many.

For 36 dedicated years, Helen served as a Head Cook for Head Start, where she poured not only meals onto plates but also love into the hearts of countless children. She believed that feeding children was more than a job — it was a ministry. Through her hands, many were nourished; through her heart, many were uplifted. Her dedication did not go unnoticed, as she was also recognized for her outstanding support and contributions to the Rhoads Terrace Center, where she faithfully served with commitment and excellence.

Helen treasured her family deeply. She was the matriarch whose love bound generations together. Whether through Sunday dinners, heartfelt conversations, or simply being present, she made sure her family knew they were loved.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Wade "Buddy" Smith and Margaret Smith; her husband, Dallas Wrightsil Jr.; and her brother, LeRoy Smith — who now welcome her into her eternal home.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her five devoted children:

Raylond C. Phillips, Duana Wrightsil, Gregory C. Phillips (Jackie Phillips), Detria Stephens (Darrell Stephens), and Anthony Phillips;

her beloved brother, Sammie D. Smith.

16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives were forever blessed by her presence.

Helen's legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains — guiding, comforting, and reminding us all of the power of a life well lived.
