Helen Hardeman Jones entered this world as the fourth child of the late Farris and Bennie Mae Hardeman on September 17, 1936, in Pittsburg, Texas, Camp County. At a young age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, a faith that guided her throughout her life.
Growing up on West Main Street in West Dallas, Texas, Helen received her formal education from Fred Douglas Elementary School. She later advanced to Booker T. Washington High School. Although she did not graduate, Helen was determined to finish her education and proudly acquired her GED.
In the summer of 1949, Helen met the love of her life, Lawrence Jones. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, lasting an incredible 70 years. Together, they were blessed with seven children, who were the joy of Helen's life.
Helen's life was marked by her unwavering faith, her commitment to education, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She was known for her love of praising the Lord, cherishing her family, and her passion for cooking. Her home was always filled with warmth, delicious meals, and the joy of family gatherings.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Farris and Bennie Mae Hardeman; sisters Bennie Mae Brown, Dorothy Jackson, and Linda Faye Hodo; brothers Obie Bruce Miller and Jesse Lee Hardeman; and sons Michael and Vincent Eric Jones.
Helen leaves in God's capable hands to cherish her life her loving husband Lawrence and children Larry Wayne Jones (Tammie), Donald Ray Jones (Paola), Virgia Rena Hines (Ralph), Kimberly Denise Hill (Charles), Christopher Jones (Tracye), and June Jones. She is also survived by her sisters Flora Mae Cook and Mary Eloise East.
Helen leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
