His Pilgrimage
Harrell Gwendell Dorsey was born on March 18, 1960 to the late Charlene Thompson Dorsey and Walter Edward Dorsey. He grew up in the city of Terrell, Texas and later moved to Dallas in the year of 1993. Harrell later was united in holy matrimony to Quila Phillips on January 31,2004.
Harrell became an avid member of the Highland Baptist Church in Terrell, where he was baptized, serving under the tutelage of Pastor James Richardson.
Harrell is a 1978 graduate of Terrell High School. He was an avid football player and was a great carpenter in the Building Trade Program. Carpentry was his passion under the guidance of Mr. Foster. Harrell ranked as one of the Top Carpenters.
Harrell's career started with Terrell High Building Trade. After graduation, he was a contractor for Fox & Jacobs' for over ten years. He was the Lead Engineer Supervisor at Fawn Ridge Apartments, Kennedy Heights Apartments, and Colonia Tepeyac Apartments. During his tenure at Colonial Tepeyac Apartments, Harrell was employed from July 1993 until his ALS diagnosis in September 2022. He became an entrepreneur, with his wife, Quila, and they launched "The Handy Man Service Company" specializing in plumbing, electrical, roofing, and drywall.
On January 15, 2024, God received him into his presence at his home. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Charlene and Walter Dorsey and his son Kawaskey O'Tay Dorsey.
