Guinevere Wright Blackstone was the second of four girls born to Ben and Effie Wright in Dallas, Texas in 1931. She attended public school and church in Texas until she was 12 when her entire family moved to Los Angeles, California. She attended and was a member of Second Avenue African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Poly Technical High School and completed some college courses before joining the United States Air Force in 1951. It was during her time in the service that she met and married Edward Gordon Blackstone in 1953 and adopted a son, Marc Eric Blackstone.
She was adamant about joining a church during her husband's many assignments in the Air Force and also continued her college education through her husband's many assignments.
Guin was a loving, kind, quiet and always considerate of others. She loved sewing, cooking, traveling and shopping. Spending three years in Naples, Italy was the most memorable experience for her. She enjoyed family gathering and helping others until she was unable to do so.
She is survived by: devoted and loving husband, Edward G. Blackstone; aunt, Dr. Claytie Searcy of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Mary Peterson (Alfred) of Desoto, Texas and Betty Hunter (Mack A.) Sylmar, California; three nieces, one nephew and a host of many other cherished in laws, other relatives and friends.
