Glynn M
Lawrence
October 9, 1919 – September 16, 2018
Glynn Lawrence was born on October 9, 1919 in Luling, TX to the parentage of Mr. Eugene Williams and Mrs. Addie Shannon Williams. Glynn graduated from Rosenwell High School. She loved to play baseball and mastered the piano without ever taking music lessons. Upon graduating from high school, Glynn moved to Dallas, TX.
After relocating to Dallas, Glynn united with the Salem Institutional Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. At Pilgrim Rest, Glynn was very active in Mission Number One, the Worship and Fine Arts Ministry (WFAM); she served dutifully as a member of the Gospel Chorus, Senior Choir, Sanctuary Choir and CW Wallace Women's Chorus. Currently, she served as the President of the Senior Women's Sunday School Class.
Glynn began working for the Percy Family in the early 1950's and she retired from that family in 1999, supporting 3 generations for nearly 50 years. After retirement, Glynn assisted the Area Field Mission in preparing food for the homeless and she worked with the Culinary Ministry of Pilgrim Rest preparing food for funerals.
Glynn's favorite day of the week was Sunday and she would arrive to Pilgrim Rest before 7:00 AM and she enjoyed breakfast and the fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. Following worship, she would look forward to Sunday afternoon lunch with her good friends and they would sometimes stay at a restaurant 2-3 hours enjoying each other's company. Everyone that knew Glynn would agree that she never complained about anything, her wit and sense of humor were very prevalent in her day to day dealings. This past Sunday, she was honored by the Pilgrim Rest Women's Ministry as one of the 2018 Women's Ministry Honorees. Her Lord and Savior; however, granted her the ultimate honor of moving her to her home beyond the skies. What a better way to transition "she was waiting on her ride to church."
Glynn's parents and brother await her just over in the Gloryland. She leaves to celebrate her life; sister, Vivian Moore of Stockton, CA; nephew, Charles Culberson (Karen) of San Antonio, TX; niece, Addie McDavid (Ray) of Stockton, CA and other relatives. Her extended family included God-daughter, Yvonne William; God-son, Samuel C. Britt and her long-time church members; Sis. Mable J. Tatum and Sis. Ernestine Ervin and a host of other friends that she considered family.
