Life Reflections
Glinder Ruth Ned, daughter of Ruth Ware-Smith, Grady Johnson and step-father, James Leroy Smith was born August 8, 1942 in Tyler, TX. The family relocated to Marlin, TX when Glinder was a young child and she attended Booker T. Washington School.
She married Sherman O'Neal and to that union five children were born: Rickie O'Neal, Vickie Bess, Sherman O'Neal Jr., Eyvonne O'Neal, and Deirdre O'Neal. Years later Glinder married Frank Ned who precedes her in death.
Glinder went to school and became a nurse and worked at various medical facilities for over 40 years. Throughout her life she served as the president for parents of the United Spiritual Singers which was a youth and young adult gospel city choir of Midland, TX. She also served at her church in various capacities. Glinder was an active spiritual counselor and advisor to many teens and adults including friends and family. Many found her to be a voice of reason and balance.
Glinder was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother relative and friend. She lived an adventurous life and had an array of interest including music, singing, dancing, painting, fishing, camping, cooking, gardening and yes playing video games.
She was preceded in death by her natural father, Grady Johnson; mother, Ruth Smith; step-father, James LeRoy Smith; husband, Frank Ned; son, Sherman O'Neal Jr.; step-son, Dexter Leron Owens; brothers, Lawrence Johnson Sr. and Grady Johnson Jr.
Glinder is survived by her children: Rickie O'Neal of Dallas, TX; Vickie Bess (Wayne) of Cedar Hill, TX; Eyvonne O'Neal of Arlington, TX; Deirdre O'Neal of DeSoto, TX; step-daughter, Rosalind Smith; grand-children, Rickie V. O'Neal, Wayne Bess Jr. (Mandy), Onterell Bess (Velishia), Brittany Terrell, Howard Terrell Jr; Quincy Terrell (Lexi), Brianna Mills, Zion Mills and Christian Mills; sister, Anna Marie
Johnson of Houston, TX; and host of other loving family members and friends.
