Obituary

This is My Story....

In the early morning hours of March 30, 2024, Gill Jeffery, aged 67, was called home to his eternal resting place. After a sudden decline in his health, Gill Jeffery, was born on July 17, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Noddie D. Jeffery and Durene Jones–Jeffery, with whom he shared eight children. Gill was preceded in death by his parents and loving siblings Clara Alexander, Virginia Jeffery, Linda Jeffery, Freddie Jeffery, and Eddie Jeffery.

He attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Jeffery was led to Christ at an early age by his friend Johnny Peavy. Upon being baptized and accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior, he began preaching and teaching God's word to everyone he encountered.

In 1996, he wed the love of his life, Abbie Jeffery of Longview, Texas, with whom he had four children. Gill, a devoted husband for 28 years and a loving father, served till his death. Mr. Jeffery was called to the ministry and served as a Youth Minister at Saint Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Allen G. Madison, who ordained Gill to preach the gospel and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. While attending Saint Mark, Gill attended Dallas Theological Seminary and graduated with a mission to preach the gospel. Later, Mr. Jeffery moved to Peniel Baptist Church under the leadership of Hue Robertson as a Youth Minister. Gill founded his own church, Greater Saint James Non-Denominational Church in a small building in West Dallas. The congregation outgrew the location and relocated to 1514 Presidio where he pastored for 12 years until his health declined.

Mr. Jeffery committed himself to serving the edges and byways, gaining knowledge of the community's needs and feeding the homeless, building bonds with other ministries like Freedom For All Prison Ministry under the late Reverend James Richardson's leadership. Together they launched outreach ministries assisting ex-prisoners, supporting their families, and paving the way for others to help the community. Gill reentered the prison system to aid Chaplain George Banks in reintegrating men, women, boys, and girls back into society. Mr. Jeffery joined prayer groups focused on praying for people worldwide. He participated in two prayer groups, Women and Men of Faith Prayer Group and Neighborhood and Worldwide Prayer, and an early morning prayer group called Praying with a Purpose.

Gill had a passion for helping anyone he met and earnestly cared for the East Dallas Community where he was raised as a child. Mr. Jeffery loved giving his time to people all over the Dallas Forth Worth Metroplex, his efforts extending as far as Houston and the surrounding areas.
He had a giving heart and a deep love for God's people. Mr. Jeffery provided clothing, shoes, housing, and food for people in the various communities, delivering food and shelter as far as Houston. Gill's generous spirit and genuine love for people were truly remarkable.

Pastor Jeffrey began working for C&D Courier, located in Dallas, Texas, where David Miller, one of the founders and owners, and Gill, had been employed for twenty years before retiring at the age of 62. Later, he joined ASW Courier Service as a part-time courier for the owner, Annie Stigger. Gill also worked at the State Fair for Gwen Fletcher's Coryn Dogs until his health declined. Mr. Jeffrey took time out to help people find places of employment and went the extra mile to pick people up for work and return them home at the end of the day. His day started at four
in the morning and would not end until after midnight; he wouldn't rest until he knew everyone he encountered was alright. He did his best to help anyone in need.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 28 years, Abbie Jeffrey, and his daughters, Jackie Smith (Eric), Nicole Brown, Jennifer Brown, and son Chris Brown (Nicole). He has one sister, Ejewel Jefferson (Herman), one brother Raymond Jeffrey, ten grandchildren; Kelsie, Alysha, Cinna,
Kynnedi, Klayton, Chrisette, Christen, Kris and Krystal (twins), and Braedyn. A host of nieces and nephews will remember Pastor Gill Jeffrey as a wonderful husband, father, and generous uncle and cousin.

In all these ways and more, he touched many people's lives during his walk with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now that he has passed
away, there is, of course, emptiness, but Gill's spirit lives on with us. Until we meet again Gill, I will love you always and forever!
