Obituary

Geneva Elizabeth Carter Taylor, born to the parentage of Pete and Margrettee Lenzy Carter in Cherokee County, Rusk, Texas on January 11, 1926. She was the third oldest of 14 children, 4 girls and 10 boys. She grew up in the rural area of East Texas piney woods, where families farmed to make their living. The Carter children were a close knit family working together farming their 110 acres of land with their father. The spiritual guidance of her mother led to her accepting Christ at an early age. Delmar Baptist Church, her church home, instilled a dedication to learning about the Lord.

She was a teacher for thirty years; working for the Garland I.S.D for seven years, eventually retiring from Dallas ISD, in 1994. Teaching was her purpose in life and loved working with the little people, kindergarten through 4th grade. A humble spirit earned her numerous awards and recognition, for her many accomplishments as a teacher. She received the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers Association, Honorary Life Membership and was a finalist for the Perot Teacher award. My mother enjoyed reading, traveling, art and crafts, sewing, gardening and fishing.

She leaves behind three siblings; George Carter, Myrtle J. Garmon and Vernell Carter, Sr.; God daughter, Mauri Bishop, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish her memories. She is not alone, she is with others whom we love and miss.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 2-9 PM at Evergreen.

The homegoing celebration will commence on Saturday, October 1, 2016 11:00 AM at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 3700 Simpson Stuart Rd., Dallas, Texas 75241
