Born on June 28, 1952, in Rosebud, Texas, to Ruben and Vertie Lee McLennan, Gail grew up in a home rich with faith and community values. She accepted Christ at an early age, and her devotion to God became the guiding force of her life. Whether singing, serving, or leading, Gail poured her heart into every role within the church, offering her gifts with humility and passion.

A Distinguished Career of Educational Leadership

Gail’s love for learning blossomed in Waco, Texas, and flourished at Prairie View A&M University, a place she cherished deeply. Over more than forty years, she built a remarkable career in education—one defined by excellence, compassion, and visionary leadership.

She served as a teacher, counselor, principal, and ultimately executive director of school leadership across multiple Texas school districts. Gail was a fierce advocate for students and a mentor to countless educators. Her influence shaped classrooms, campuses, and communities, leaving an imprint on public education that will endure for generations.

Her commitment extended beyond her professional roles. She was a proud and active member of:

Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. She loved reading, traveling, and serving her community. Yet her greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends. Of all her titles, her most treasured was “Grammy”—a role she called her proudest accomplishment.
