Franklin D. Thompson, affectionally known by his family as "Dee", was born on January 15, 1940, in Cherokee County, New Summerfield, Texas to the late Charlie and Jannie Thompson. He was the fourth of eight children born to this union.
At an early age, he united with C umberland CME Methodist Church in the Rock Hill community of New Summerfield. He attended New Summerfield school (Pine Hill) and later graduated from G.W. Bradford High School in Rusk, Texas , class of 1959 . After graduation, he moved to Dallas , Texas and later served in the U nited States Army , stationed in both the U.S. and Germany until 1965. After h e was hon orab ly discharged , Frank moved back to Dallas, T exas where he met and married his wife, Ethel Rose.
Frank was employed by the U nited States Postal Service for 32 years until his retirement in 2003.
Frank was a quiet, yet opinionated family man. He was a homebody, but he enjoyed visiting with his brothers and sisters. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed, fishing, hunting, gardening, and farm work . His other hobbies were reading, watching TV, listening to music and most of all, being " Papa " to his two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four si b lings : William Thompson, Selener Patterson, Charles Thompson and James Thompson.
He is survived by wife of 56 years , Ethel Rose Thompson; two sons, Adrian Thompson and Terry Deveraux ; one daughter , Telisca Lindsay (Charles); two g randdaughters, Katelyn and Khloe Lindsay; one brother , Marlin Thompson; two sister s , Espan ola Thompson and Onia Thompson ; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will forever cherish his memories.
