Obituary

Min. Frank Colbert, Jr. was born November 15, 1943, to the late Frank Colbert, Sr. and the late Beulah Mae (Hopkins) Colbert of Clarksville, TX. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age and remained dutiful until he was called home.

He attended grade schools in Clarksville and graduated from Cheatham High School. He continued his education and received his B. A. in Education at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, TX. He worked attentively, faithfully, and diligently for over 35 years for Dallas Independent School District. Boude Storey Middle School is where he worked for over 25 years before retiring in 2006.

Upon moving to Dallas, TX, he united with Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor G. A. Sneed. He was an active member of GMMBC and served on several ministries. For many years at GMMBC, he served as a Deacon and was later ordained into the ministry in January of 2003 under the leadership of Pastor Kelly Austin. Under leadership of Pastor Austin, he followed and moved his membership to New Greater Memorial Family Church where he served as a minister until later relocating to Longview, TX. While in Longview, he attended both Mt. Olive Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor JD Palmer, and Bethel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Brandon Owens. He remained a faithful servant until God saw fit to call him home.

On September 4, 1965, he united in marriage with Honerine Sells, who has preceded him in death. To this union, four children were born.

On August 6, 2016, he united in marriage with Lois Stephens, who has also preceded him in death.

Family members preceding him in death are Mark Johnson (son), Ja'Rod Colbert (grandson), Bill Parker, Pearlee Colbert, and Timothy (Hopkins) Colbert (brothers), Gwendolyn Travis and Mary Titus (sisters) and Cheryl Reeves (goddaughter)

To cherish his memories, the family members left behind are four children: Frank Colbert, III, Roderick Colbert (Gretchen), Francine Webb (Rodney), and Catherine Mays (Damon); nine grandchildren: Corine and D' Shayla Colbert, Ne'Kya Webb; Aaliyah, R'mon, Damon, Jr, and Deanthony Mays; and Christian and Jaden Colbert; three great grandchildren: JaCorlyn Colbert, Karcelyn Bailey, and Harmoinee Spraglin-Mays; four in- laws: Jewelene Colbert, Gloria Williams (Wyndolyn), Daniel Sells, Jr. (Angela), and Shirley Sells; and extended family members Christine Rhynes, Michelle, Elizabeth and Jermaine Thomas, Tiffany Reeves, Audley Smith, Timothy Richardson, Bert Richardson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
