Frances Jean
Toombs
May 14, 1941 – January 17, 2021
Frances Jean Crowe Toombs was the second daughter of two born to Tommy L. Crowe and Margie M. Ford Crowe. Jean was born May 14, 1941 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. When she was young, her family moved to Seattle, Washington where she and her sister Betty grew up. She accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in Seattle. When she was 15 years old, her family moved to Los Angeles, California. Jean graduated from Dorsey Miller High School, then attended and completed business school.
Jean married the love of her life, Donald L. Toombs on November 7, 1964 in Los Angeles. They built a wonderful life together and have been blessed with 56 years of marriage. Jean worked in Administration for Los Angeles Unified School District for 35 years until retirement. In 2006, Jean, Donald and Betty moved to Dallas, Texas and made it their new home.
Jean joined Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She loved serving on the Season of Service Ministry under the leadership of Prince Nwankwonta, and attending Sister Hoskin's Sunday school class. She and her sister Betty enjoyed going on excursions with the church Senior Saints.
Jean was full of life and had an extremely generous spirit. She was kind to everyone and never met a stranger. She embraced life wholeheartedly and enjoyed traveling and cruising with her husband and sister. Jean and Betty would often be seen around town enjoying lunch, weekly movie outings, shopping and visiting with friends. Jean always looked beautiful and was very fashionable. She exemplified a life well lived and took nothing for granted. Her passion for the Lord and life will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Donald; her sister, Betty; her cousin James Buchanan and his two daughters; and a host of family and friends.
