Frances M.
Johnson
April 3, 1934 – February 5, 2021
Frances Marie Johnson, affectionately known as "Hanky," was born on April 3, 1934, in Oakwood, TX. She entered eternal rest on February 5, 2021. She was the third of seven children born to the union of the late Nathaniel Johnson and the late Janie Johnson.
Frances attended the public schools of Dallas County and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. After graduation she attended barber school and excelled, owning and operating Frances' Barber and Beauty Shop for 34 years before retirement. Frances was also a licensed Realtor.
A devoted Christian and faithful member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she worshipped for most of her life, Frances was actively involved. She sang in the choir, was a member of the women's and food pantry ministries, helped organize Easter and Christmas plays and was instrumental in organizing the Inspirational Choir for young adults.
Frances was a woman who never met a stranger; instead, she considered them friends she was yet to meet. She valued the time spent with loved ones, always looking forward to reconnecting with family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, sewing and gardening.
Frances transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal home after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson's disease. She was 86 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jimmy McMillian, III; four brothers, Lincoln Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Sr., Nathaniel Johnson, Johnny Johnson; and one sister, Jessie Johnson.
Frances leaves to cherish her memories her children, Timothy Johnson, Dallas, TX, and Stephanie McMillian West (Eddie), Sugar Land, TX; one brother, Gene Johnson (Glenda), Lancaster, TX; three grandchildren, Terry Morgan, Dallas, TX, Timothy Johnson, II, Dallas, TX, and Myles West, Sugar Land, TX; four great-grandchildren, Timeshia Johnson, Timothy Johnson, III, Darrian Johnson, Chasity Johnson, all of Dallas, TX; and a host of extended family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all.
