Obituary

Felix Arthur Brown, Jr., known affectionately as Lil Brother, was born on January 24, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to his parents, Felix Arthur Brown, Sr., and Marie Burnley Brown. At an early age, he developed talents as a boxer, singer and student. He was educated in the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965.

After graduation, Felix enrolled at Southwestern Christian College and later at North Texas State University, where he received his bachelor's degree and completed graduate coursework towards a Master's degree. His philosophy of self-sufficiency eventually led him to start his own business as a proprietor of various services headquartered in the Black community. Commercial building maintenance—tax preparation—notary services—car titling…Felix learned how to do it all. He was dedicated to his work and had a passion for uplifting his community. He believed that a greater knowledge of religion, self, and one's history would empower people and the community, as a whole.

In his spare time, Felix enjoyed playing chess and engaging in deep, thought-provoking discussions with his friends and family. He was well-read and educated himself on many topics. Felix was a life-long student and learner. He was especially intrigued with African and African-American history and issues affecting the Black community. He had a thirst for absorbing the teachings of Black historians, philosophers and religious-thought leaders.

On July 3, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family, Felix completed his journey on Earth. His facial expression of the ultimate peace was of great comfort to his loved ones.

Felix was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Sr., and Marie; and his son, Manuel ("Sport"). He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his sons: Felix III and Malcolm; his daughters: Takiyah, Katina, Shayla, and Anika; six grandchildren;sisters, Gwendolyn homas (Melvin), Erma Carey-Day (Edwin), Mary Brown, Jeanette Sneed, Michele Brown Carson Micheoa Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
