The Extraordinary Evelyn Delois Watson was sent from heaven on October 22, 1949. She burst on the scene at Parkland Hospital in Dallas Texas as her parents, Wesley and Huella Wright marveled at their bundle of joy.
Evelyn was a lively spirit! As a child, music was always in her heart and a song was continually on her lips. She translated her musical gifts onto the ivory keys as she played the piano serving as Choirmaster, Musician and Minister of Music for over 50 years; beginning at New El Bethel Baptist Church and ending at Sanctuary of Liberty Church. During her musical career Evelyn had many affiliations including, traveling with James Cleveland, serving with Gospel Music Workshops of America and Youth for Christ in Dallas Tx. She retired from Dallas Independent School District after 30 years of service.
Evelyn was resilient! She loved fervently. Her effervescent personality and exuberant life will have a lasting impact on everyone.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Children- David Benjamin (Tamesha), Sonoma Benjamin-Smith (Cecil), Jared Watson (Janice); Grandchildren- Valerie Nelson, Cedrick Mack, David Benjamin Jr, Victoria Benjamin, Jasmine Smith, Danisha Benjamin, Wesley Smith, TyQuan Benjamin, Jamaria Benjamin; Great Grandchildren- ZaDarrion King, Kordell Johns, Kaylee Nelson, Ismail Monroe, Richley Monroe, Davejah Benjamin, David Benjamin III, Kyran Benjamin, Za'Riyah Mack, DeMarcus Benjamin, Elijah Benjamin; Sisters- Ruby Dewberry (Walter), Rosie Marie Pierson; Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
She is preceded in death by Billy Watson (husband), Wesley and Huella Wright (parents), Billy Earl Wright (brother), and Beverly Ann Wright (sister).
