Eugene (Gene) Jackson Dash
January 25, 1954 – June 26, 2026
The Dash symbolizes the date of Gene’s birth and the time Gene spent living on Earth. It symbolizes his highs and lows, the hellos and the goodbyes. It symbookizes every precious moment Gene shared with Family and Friends. More importantly, the DASH reflects the profound impact he had on the lives around him.
Gene the fifth son and eighth child, was born in Ovilla, Texas (Ellis County) to Charles Jackson Sr. and Lola Mae Wright Jackson, demonstrating a spirit of perseverance from an early age.
He received his education in Tyler ISD and continued his journey though Chapel Hill High School, and ultimately graduating in 1972 from South Oak Cliff High School, Dallas, Texas.
From an early age, Gene was a dedicated member of Noah’s Ark Church under the guidance of the late Rev. Henderson Stepney and later joined Tabernacle of Faith under Rev. C.B Averhart, showing his commitment to faith and community.
His career included roles at Tucker Warehouse and Falkenberg Construction, culminating in a fulfilling retirement as a Maintenance worker at Balch Springs Nursing Facility after 25 years of dedicated service.
Gene’s hobbies reflect his vibrant sprit; he played semi-pro baseball for the Dallas Spider’s and Lancaster Bullets as a pitcher, often guided by his father as his coach. He was also an avid pool player with Southside Ridaz completing in multiple tournaments. Also, he was a skilled mechanic who installed engines. And he found joy in watching his beloved Westerns.
In a beautiful union of love, Gene married Celestine Pates on April 13, 1982, and together they’ve cherished 44 years of partnership, Raising two sons and a daughter, building a legacy of strength and love.
Welcoming Gene’s arrival at Heaven’s Pearly Gates are his parents: sister, Iristine and four brothers, Jesse, JW, Charles Jr and Argustra (Rickey) along with other relatives and friends.
Gene leaves a lasting legacy of love, compassion, warmth, strength, faith and devotion it his wife Celestine Pates Jackson: son Deshon Jackson Sr, and Eric Jackson Sr,: daughter Linshondra Jackson. Ten adoring grandchildren Alaija, Kayana, Tyree, Deshon Jr, Harmoni, Keaundray, Deun “Ta, Ke’Mari, Kehlani, and Eric Jr. His loving siblings: brother, Bennie L Jackson (Vivian) of Corsicana, TX; sister Barbara Horace of Midlothian Tx, Aristine Peoples of Tyler, TX and Darlene Russell/ He also leaves to cherish his memories, his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. In addition, treasuring his memories are his Aunt, Rosie Jackson and Uncle, Willie L. Jackson both of Winona, TX: his sister in love, Debra Jackson of Tyler, TX; Melvin Jackson cousin/brother and Jocelyn A. Hemphill of San Antonio, TX and God brother, Pastor Al Hill of Desoto, TX and a countless number of beloved relatives and friends who were touched by warmth. Gene is at the end of his DASH.
