Erma L.
Johnson
January 11, 1943 – November 15, 2025
Erma Louise Johnson was born on January 11, 1943, in Tyler, Texas, to the late AJ and Lurline Johnson. The oldest of eight children, she was Big Sister in her loving family.
She graduated from James Madison High School and went on to build a career in hospitality at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Later, she worked at Titche's Department Store, where her passion for fashion and style was evident. She loved shopping at Neiman's and had a special joy in spoiling her baby brother "Timmy" with trips to the fair.
From an early age, she accepted Christ and began her spiritual journey at Phillips Temple COGIC. Her faith remained steadfast throughout her life as she worshipped at New Hope Progressive COGIC and later at Steven Temple COGIC prior to her health failing.
Erma peacefully departed this life in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 15th. She was preceded in death by her parents, AJ and Lurline; brothers Hayward, Samuel, David, and Joel; sister Janet and nephew Adrian (AJ).
The memory of her sweet smile and contagious laugh will be cherished by her siblings Judy and Timothy (Elesia) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear family friends.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
