In the beautiful peaceful bliss afternoon of October 9, 2017, our dearly loved Emma Faye McDow Durham entered into eternal rest at Baylor University Medical Center.
Emma Faye was born on September 10, 1947 in Quanah, Texas to Henry McDow (deceased) and Margaret Anderson McDow (deceased). She graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1965. After graduation, she attended Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. While attending Jarvis, Emma Faye met Lyndon 'Toby' Durham. They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 5, 1970. Toby preceded her in death in 1994.
Emma Faye retired from Southwestern Bell in 2005, where she worked as a Service Rep for 25 years.
She was a member of the Grand High Court Heroines of Jericho.
She was a faithful member of Kirkwood Temple C.M.E. Church where she was very active in Sunday School, Jubilee Emergency Aid and Noonday Bible Study. She also served in the following ministries; Culinary, Senior Prom, Senior Ministry, Administrative Office, Annual Conference Committee, Church Anniversary Committee and Annual Men & Women's Day.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her daughter, Sheron McDow, her granddaughter Ashlee McDow, brothers Arthur McDow (Shirley), Willie J. McDow (Vera), Samuel McDow (Virginia) and Lee McDow, all of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her brothers Henry Clyde McDow (Doris) of Dallas, Texas and Paul McDow (Manie) of Tyler, Texas and sisters Lubertha Tubbs of Houston, Texas and Clemmie McGrew Williams of Killeen, Texas. She also leaves an aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
