Elizabeth Dantley was born on November 1, 1929 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late John W. Anderson Sr. of Mandarin, FL. and the late Mary L. (Johnson) Anderson of Tampa FL. She was preceded in death by all her siblings including, 3 brothers; John Anderson Jr., Harvey Anderson and Julius Anderson and four sisters, Wanna Mae Anderson, Ruby Anderson, Juanita Alexander and Aretha Clair.
In Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth confessed belief in Jesus Christ and she and her family were members of Sweetfield Baptist Church where she was baptized and received her religious instruction.
Elizabeth was an engaging, outspoken, lively person who was full of energy and just enjoyed the company of others. She had an infectious laugh that warmed the hearts of many.
Elizabeth was musically inclined and had a talent for playing the piano by ear. On occasion she would substitute on the piano during Sunday School programs. As she aged gracefully, she remained engaged in playing the piano by singing old spiritual hymns throughout her home and teaching her grandchildren how to read notes and navigate the keyboard always starting with "middle C!
Elizabeth attended and graduated from Stanton High School in 1947. Elizabeth always had a gift for comforting and nurturing others. This quality served her well in pursuing her nursing career. After High School, Elizabeth enrolled in Brewster Nursing School and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Upon graduation, Elizabeth relocated to Harlem, NY where she embarked upon her career as a Registered Nurse. She worked in a variety of different settings starting in the private duty sector, and hospital environments including the delivery room, operating room and so much more. Elizabeth met and married Clymesol (Sol) Dantley on December 19, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York where they resided until moving to Queens, NY in the early 60's and becoming faithful stewards of St Albans Baptist Church for over 55 years where she and her husband were one of the pillars of the church community.
While married, she continued her career as a Nurse for a while but took some time off to concentrate on her children's growth while still an active member within her community. Elizabeth was a vital member of the PTA throughout all of her children's schooling, holding various officers including President of the PTA Board as well. She was always present in community board meetings and was one of the pioneers in forming the T-Block Association in her neighborhood working to sustain and maintain the preservation of her Hollis/St. Albans community.
While Elizabeth served her community with great diligence and pride, she loved the St. Albans Church community. After being introduced to the church by her late brother and sister-in-law, Elizabeth immediately became actively involved in a variety of auxiliaries at the church. She was a member of the St. Albans Baptist Church choir, Busy Bee Club,
Nurses Unit, Community Outreach Center working along side her husband in the Food Pantry faithfully. She was also very active in establishing the archives of the church to preserve the rich history of St. Albans. Sister Dantley was a constant presence at the church, attending weekly prayer and bible study meetings faithfully while visiting the sick and touching the lives of many. She and her husband were also members of The Sunshine Club of St. Albans Baptist Church where they enjoyed traveling with fellow members of the church to different parts of the world.
As her husband's health declined, Sister Dantley and Brother Dantley faithfully attended St. Albans Baptist Church on Sundays until they relocated to Dallas, TX in February 2019. She quickly found a church home in Dallas, TX at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and immediately bonded with a new church family while still maintaining the long-standing relationships she had formed with her beloved St. Albans Church family.
Sister Elizabeth Dantley was called to eternal life on November 3, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sol of 66 years!
She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 daughters, Beverly McIntyre (former spouse -Bill), Dallas, TX, Monica Hunter (Melvin), Riverdale, NY, and one son, Kevin Dantley (Lori), O'Fallon, MO; 8 grandchildren, Calvin Dantley (Belinda), Kelly Thompson (Husani), Keri Davis (Dominique), Christopher McIntyre (Kalli), Carlton McIntyre, Mya Hunter, Mckenzie Hunter and Markus Hunter; 7 great-grandchildren, Christian Dantley, Jett Thompson, Destiny Thompson, Layla Davis, Mica McIntrye, Adalynn McIntyre and Jaelyn McIntyre; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear church family and friends.
