Elbert Holland,
Jr
November 4, 1951 – November 28, 2024
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. - Psalm 118:24
Elbert Holland Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 4, 1951. He was one of four children born to Elbert Holland Sr. and Della Tolbert Holland. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He was a dear son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend who was known for his laid-back personality and quick wit!
At an early age, Elbert accepted Christ into his life and was baptized at Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church. It was there that Elbert attended Vacation Bible School and met many neighborhood friends. Elbert and his brothers spent many summers at Greater Bethlehem BC attending church, Sunday School, VBS, and participating in many plays and programs for the youth. He was a Boy Scout during his youth and attended camp and the Juanita Craft Recreation Center. Elbert went on to graduate high school in 1970 from Lincoln High School in "Sunny Side South Dallas," where the mascot is the "Mighty Tigers." On his 16th birthday, Elbert's popularity skyrocketed when he received a fresh-off-the-showroom-floor, 1969 Red Ford Mustang Mach 1! The stories are legendary, and those who know him best all have a story!
He leaves behind one sister, Shelia Holland-Anderson (James), and two brothers, Walter Donald Holland and John Dudley Holland.
Elbert's legacy lives on in the memories of his three children: Shuan C. Hawkins Sr. (Alisha), LaDarron Easter, and April Ford, all of Dallas, Texas, and three grandchildren, Rod Keiston Easter, Shuan Chris II, and Hayden Hawkins, all of Dallas, Texas, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
