Life Reflections

"We are confident, I say, and would prefer, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and to be present with the Lord." - II Corinthians 5:8

DWIGHT HAYNES, SR., a remarkable man whose brilliance and determination touched the lives of many. Dwight entered t his world on Saturday, January 10, 1948, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Beatrice Kemp-Haynes and the late LeRoy Haynes.

BORN with an extraordinary gift for mathematics and electronics. Dwight was a young genius early in life. His exceptional aptitude was on full display during his junior high and high school years. Mentored by his junior high school teacher/local TV repair shop entrepreneur, the late Mr. John D. Rodgers, everyone knew they could find Dwight repairing electronics when not studying, riding his motorcycle, or skating with his older sister.

DWIGHT graduated from Herbert High School in 1966, married his high school sweetheart, Thira Patterson, and enrolled in Lamar University. After one semester, university administrators, recommended a more advanced electronics education program. Determined to succeed, Dwight packed his small family at the time, headed to Dallas to attend Elkins Institute. Placed in a cohort of 26 participants, the only Black American, Dwight was one of five individuals successfully completing the program in 1969.

PROFESSIONALLY, Dwight worked for Panasonic and WFAA, Channel 8 as electronic engineer where he retired after 30 years. Dwight was known for his quiet demeanor, superb work ethic and high technical capabilities. He was part of WFAA history as media and television expanded to include live mini cam vans.

ONCE in Dallas, Dwight not only started his professional career, but strengthened his relationship with God. In 1969, Dwight was filled with the Holy Spirit and joined Full Gospel Tabernacle and in 1972, Dwight found his long-term church home of Full Gospel Holy Temple (FGHT). Dedicated to the technical and engineering needs of the ministry and under the great late Apostle Lobias Murray, Dwight worked to expand God's ministry by leading others. FGHT radio broadcasts and tape ministries were expanded, engineering and production capabilities were created, and many fellowship churches received a helping hand. Dwight produced legendary recordings including "We're Living in a Snaky Land (1975), Bicentennial Messages to America (1976), The Dynamic Joyful Souls (1976), Country People - The Dynamic Joyful Souls, (1981). He was instrumental in so many ways and was honored for 50 years of outstanding service and contributions to FGHT Inc.

DWIGHT joins in eternal rest with his loving mother, Beatrice Kemp-Haynes, his grandparents Thelma and Freddie Kemp, and daughter, Kemiah Haynes Hawthorne.

THOSE who remain to cherish in the memorable legacy of love, his wife of 58 years, Thira Patterson Haynes, three daughters - Tarazetta (Michael) Haynes-Morgan, Caerese (James) Riley, Naomi (Brian) Meredith, four sons - Dwight (Keisha) Haynes, Jr., Reginald (Cheritta) Haynes, David Haynes, Arbrook (Tawni) Haynes, two sisters - Prophetess Betty Haynes Johnson, Brenda Joseph, one brother - Reverend Dr. LeRoy (Doris) Haynes, Jr., goddaughter, Juaune (Andre) Clemons; 20 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
