Drinkard Timms III, was born August 15, 1958 in Henderson County, TX to the union of Rev. Dr. Drinkard Timms, Jr., and Mrs. Lonnie Mae Norris Timms. He was the eldest of four siblings.
Drinkard accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and held membership in the African Methodist Episcopal Churches, where his father served in ministry; Port Arthur, TX, Emmanuel AME, San Antonio and Saint Paul AME Church, Dallas, TX. As a youth, Drinkard served in the Young Peoples Department, Sunday School, and Choir. Drinkard remained an AME through most of his adult life, until the Lord called him to the Baptist Church, where he began his call as a Deacon in training. He enjoyed working around his church at any job that needed to be done and he was devoted in serving the needs of the pastoral team. Drinkard has also served in the choir and as an Usher.
Drinkard attended Saint Phillips College, San Antonio, TX and then joined the United States Navy and travelled the world. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and San Diego, CA. While in the Navy, he trained as a plant mechanic and had great aptitude for "fixing things and tearing them apart".
Drinkard's favorite thing to do and his true passion was cooking. He enjoyed making meals for his family and creating his own recipes. He delighted in making special holiday meals or just preparing the weeknight meal for his family. He passed his culinary skills to both sons and two special little girls, Hannah & Jillian. In later life, after working as a Plant Mechanic, Drinkard went back to school and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts College and worked in culinary arts at Parkland Health & Hospital System until his death.
On June 30, 1990, Drinkard married the love of his life, Julie Ann Grant and from this union, two sons were born, Drinkard (Quad) Timms IV and Zachary Louis Grant Timms. Drinkard was a devoted Christian, faithful husband to Julie, loving and attentive father, loving son & brother and a trusted and generous friend.
