Dorothy Marie McCray, 76, of Dallas, Texas died Saturday August 14, 2021. She was born August 4, 1945 to Roosevelt Gennings and Verdell Thomas.
She graduated from James Madison High School and worked in the office for a time after graduation. She went on to work for Texas Instruments, then to the JCPenney Credit Division, where she retired after almost 30 years. As a retiree, she took a position at Dallas Housing Authority. Over the years, she impacted many lives in the workplace.
She is survived by her husband Jim, her daughters Faith and Hope, and her grandchildren Caitlin, Christian and Arlington III. Dorothy was loved by her siblings Jean, Ricky, Karen, Sharon, Randy and Yvette, her sons-in-law Todd and Arlington II, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She enjoyed music, movies and having a good time. She loved beautiful things, especially receiving flowers and giving them to others. She was funny, protective, and willing to give all that she could. One of her favorite prayers was "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference." She lived by her catchphrase, "Every day is a new day."
Dorothy was a lovely jewel, and precious memories of her will continue to be cherished by all the lives she touched.
