Doris Elizabeth (Brown) Jones was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 17, 1932. She was the oldest of seven children and born to the late Ruth Geneva (Bowman) Brown and Samuel J. Brown Sr. during the early hours of July 26th, Doris gained her wings to be with the Lord.
Doris began her education in the Baltimore City Public School System, later relocating to Dallas, Texas where she continued at Lincoln High School.
Doris began her career working for Texas Instruments. After 10 years of service, she left to become the primary caregiver of her daughter.
Doris was an active and enthusiastic member of True Lee Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid member of the Esther Circle. She loved spending her spare time doing mission work.
She enjoyed 22 years of marriage that yielded six children. She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 children, Venessa Jones, Ardell Jones Jr., Phillip Jones and David Jones; 4 siblings, Europa (Tinka) Brown, Reginald A. Brown, Samuel J. Brown Jr. and Clara M. Mears.
Doris is survived by 2 sons, Martin (Pam) Jones of Desoto, Texas and Michael Jones of Dallas, Texas; grandson/son, Tatum (Nina) Bell, Aurora, Co.; two sisters, Janice Saulsbury and Masalina Robinson-Goodman and adopted brother, Thomas Williams of Baltimore, Maryland, 15 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, lifelong special friend, Helen Bomar, and other extended family and friends. Also, she is survived by her God given daughters, Gloria Henderson and Glenda Berry.
