Obituary

Doris Jean Ellis was born July 14, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, the fourth child of four children, to the late Butler Ayers, Sr., and Luella Ayers. Preceding her in death, her beloved husband Virgle Ellis, two brothers, Butler Ayers, Jr. (Sonny); Charles Ayers, and one sister Pearlie Mae Fuller.

She received her childhood education in the Dallas Public School System, graduating from Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas.

Her employment history consisted of working for George Washington Carver for 11 years. She and her husband Virgle embarked on a life of entrepreneurship in the catering and janitorial business for several years. She also worked for the Duncanville Independent School District as a Crossing Guard. She met and married Virgle Ellis, and to this union, there were four daughters.

She accepted Christ early as her personal Savior and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. She joined Eastgate Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of Rev. H. D. Reagan, where she served in the Deaconess Ministry and the Citizens Ministry. She faithfully served until her health began to fail. On June 29, 2022, our heavenly Father whispered to Doris Ellis to come and rest. Therefore, she fell asleep in the" Arms of Jesus" with peace and calm.

She leaves to cherish her memories: loving children Debra Jean (Jesse) Cash, Dallas, Texas, Deborah Denise (Henry) Coler, Waxahachie, Texas, Vicky Ellis, Duncanville, Texas, and Frenchell (Darryl) Carter, Midlothian, Texas. Four grandchildren: Odis Easley III, Cedric Wayne and Christopher Jermone Coler, and Brittany Ellis-Johnson. Eight great- grandchildren: Isaiah, E'Mari, Dezmin, Donovan, Kayden, Kaydren Coler; Sabastain and Amira Barrett. Two nieces: Gwendolyn Hopkins and Jackie Ayers; Five nephews: Roy, Reginald and Julian Fuller, Michael and Wayne Ayers, all of Dallas, Texas, cousins, in-laws, and a host of other relatives and friend
