Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Donell Ellison announces his passing on December 23, 2023, in Dallas Texas at the age of 60. He was born on January 18, 1963, in San Antonio Texas to Gloria Rainey and Donell Ellison Sr.

Donell was a loving son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle. He was preceded in death by his mother Gloria Rainey and his father Donell Ellison Sr. He is survived by his sister Andrea Gould; nephew Billy C. Gould; and great nephew Bryan C. Russell.

Donell began his career at the United States Postal Service in 1986 and worked there for 36 years until his untimely passing. His dedication and commitment to his work will be remembered by all who knew him.

Donell was a very private person, but he didn't meet a stranger, he had an outgoing personality with an infectious laugh that would light up any room he entered. He was honest, hard-working, dedicated, and mostly a true friend who enjoyed hanging out with his friends, traveling, and having a good time – rarely ever having many sad days; always wearing a smile on his face with the words "I hit them in the biscuits" which were always sure to make those around him smile too!

He was also deeply spiritual but not necessarily religious as he felt no need to follow any specific religious practices but rather believed that he could connect with God through spirituality and faith alone.

The family will be hosting a funeral service for Donell at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home located on University Hills Boulevard in Dallas Texas on January 5th, 2023, at 12:30 pm where friends are welcome to come celebrate Donell's life with us during this difficult time.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our friends, funeral home staff, and relatives who have supported us during these trying times – your kind words, thoughts and gestures have meant the world to us as we try to cope with our loss – your presence and support have given us the strength we needed to get through this difficult journey ahead of us – we cannot thank you enough for your generosity, compassion and understanding – you have shown us what true friendship and family means – we are truly grateful for all of it!
