Delcina K.
Avery
November 22, 1941 – November 20, 2024
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. - John 14:27
Delcina K. Avery was born on November 22, 1941, in Emerson, Arkansas, and departed this earthly life on November 20, 2024, at 3:10 AM. Delcina was the third child born to the late William and Lee Ella Kearney. She left this earthly world on November 20, 2024, at 3:10 AM at Charlton Methodist Hospital.
Delcina attended McMittress High School in Emerson and later moved to Dallas, TX, where she met and married Carl Avery in 1961. From their union, three sons were born: Phillip Avery (Leah), Carl Lynn Avery (Sheree), and David L. Avery.
Delcina was a graduate of Nielsen's Beauty Academy and was a licensed cosmetologist. She began her career at Sandersons Beauty Salon and later moved to Paradise Beauty Center, where she remained employed until her retirement in 2017.
Del, as some lovingly called her, loved dancing, singing, and having a good time, and her favorite music was gospel. Although she wasn't a huge talker, she was a jokester and would often tease her friends and customers with sayings like "a fight goes with it!" or "hit them with a brick!" She loved dominoes and going to the casino, and she especially cherished her grandchildren, always willing to go the extra mile for them whenever she could.
Delcina is preceded in death by her parents (William and Lee Ella Kearney), her husband (Carl Avery), three brothers (Willie V. Kearney, Wilbert Kearney, and Welcome Ferguson), one sister (Martha Allen), and one stepbrother (Hosea Ferguson).
In addition to her three sons, Phillip (Leah), Carl Lynn (Sheree), and David, Delcina leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren (Phillip L. Avery, Tyler M. Avery, Jerel Avery, and Erin M. Avery), three great-grandchildren (Camron Avery, Micah T. Avery, and Tryston Avery), two brothers (Hosie Ferguson, Jr. and Benny Kearny), and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
