Obituary

Daymond Lenard Gardner, born on May 14, 1962, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to James Gardner and Rubye Gates, transitioned from this life on February 1, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and strength that will forever be cherished by his family, profession, community, and church.

Daymond's educational journey began in Ardmore public schools, and his pursuit of higher education led him to Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in May 1986. During his time at Langston, Daymond became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, where he also served as the Phi Psi chapter President.

In 1987, Daymond relocated to Dallas, Texas, where he began his career with the Federal Government, first at the Food and Drug Administration and later with the Internal Revenue Service, where he worked for eight years. He eventually transitioned into the corporate sector, excelling in various roles at Dal-Tile International, Tristar Aerospace, and Internet America.

Daymond ultimately spent the last 10 years of his career at Citigroup as a Network Administrator, where he made a significant impact through his exceptional work and dedication. His expertise and commitment to excellence earned him numerous accolades, reflecting the high regard in which he was held by his colleagues and supervisors alike.

Beyond his professional achievements, Daymond valued the relationships he built during his time at Citigroup. He formed many lasting friendships, creating a supportive network that extended beyond the workplace. His ability to connect with others and foster a sense of camaraderie made him a beloved figure among his peers.

Daymond's legacy at Citigroup is marked not only by his professional accomplishments but also by the warmth and kindness he brought to every interaction. He will be remembered for his contributions to the team and the positive impact he had on the lives of those around him.

Daymond's greatest pride, however, was his family. He met his wife, Troy Kimberly, in 1988, and they married in 1991, enjoying almost 34 years together. Their union was blessed with two sons, Daymond Tyler (32) and Dilland Kristofer Reginald (27), whom Daymond was most proud of. He was a loving and devoted father, offering his strength, wisdom, and guidance until the very end, advising his sons  to stand on the power of prayer and walk with strength and grace with him through his sickness.

Daymond's legacy at First Christian Methodist Church is a testament to his unwavering commitment and dedication over the past 32 years. As a valued member of the Trustee Board, the audio-visual team, and the Christian Men of the Church, he devoted countless hours to serving the congregation and ensuring that the church thrived.

His kindness, compassion, and selflessness were hallmarks of his character. Daymond was always willing to lend his time and talents wherever they were needed, embodying the spirit of service that inspires others. Known for his mild-mannered and even-tempered demeanor, he provided a steady presence in the lives of those around him, offering support and encouragement without ever seeking recognition for his efforts.

Daymond's impact extended beyond the church community; he was a mentor and role model to many children and youth throughout the years. From his younger cousins to school and little league athletes, as well as his godchildren and many now-adult church members, he touched the lives of countless individuals. His genuine love and respect for those he mentored speaks volumes about the positive influence he had on their lives.

Daymond will be remembered not only for his contributions to the church but also for the warmth and kindness he shared with everyone he encountered. His legacy of service and mentorship will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Daymond was preceded in death by his grandmother, Opal Irene Knight; great-aunts, Harvana Lee Knight Williamson and Carmene Elizabeth Knight, brother, Zachary Douglas; and uncle/cousin, Arthel "Bones" Smith and brother/best-friend Levester Posey III

He is survived by his wife, Troy Kimberly; sons, Daymond Tyler and Dilland Kristofer Reginald; mother, Rubye Gates; sister, Sharita Gates; aunt, Clevetta Patterson (Kermit); and a host of other relatives, friends, and acquaintances who will forever remember him for his quiet strength, compassion, and love.

Daymond Lenard Gardner, affectionately called "Big Daymond" by his family and close friends, was a devoted Christian, husband, father, son, brother, nephew, godfather, coach, neighbor, co-worker, and friend, and will be deeply missed. His contributions to his family, profession, community, and church will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. May he rest in peace.
