David Wayne
Porter
October 14, 1951 – June 3, 2017
David entered this earthly realm on October 14, 1951, to his parents, Sam and Pertletha (Sublet) Porter, as part of God's divine plan. He was the ninth child of twelve children. He was known by those who knew and loved him as "Bubba".
"Bubba" attended Pittsburg Public Schools where he was a standout athlete and later attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. As a young child, he became a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in where he confessed his hope in Jesus Christ. He was a member of Community Church of God in Christ in Greenville, Texas under the leadership of Superintendent Michael Watson.
In 1977, "Bubba" united in Holy Matrimony with Lana Hightower whom he affectionately called "The Wind beneath His Wings". He was a beloved husband and father and he enjoyed taking care of his family. He provided for his family by working for Johnson Controls in Garland, Texas as a machinist for many years before retiring. In his past times, he enjoyed watching basketball and football, however he took great pride in playing golf with his brothers.
On June 3, 2017, David Wayne Porter crossed over into eternity with all of the dignity and courage that was characterized throughout his life. He remained in control until illness slowed him down.
