Mr. David Lee Marvel Sr. was born July 22, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio to Lois Love and Raymond Wilson who had preceded him in death. At an early age he was adopted by Mary and George Marvel Sr. (preceded in death) and came to live in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
His primary education was in Norristown School District, upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He discharged for a short time, then reenlisted to serve in the Vietnam and later Gulf Wars. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1996 when he retired as a Staff Sergeant.
He had a love of boxing while serving in the Army. He later developed a love of photography and music. He followed in the footsteps of his father George Marvel by founding "Marvel Hauling Trucking Company." He later sold his business in the mid-seventies and joined "Foodmaker Distribution" until he retired in 2000.
He was born and raised in Macedonia Baptist Church where he was an active participant in the choir and trustee board. His journey brought him to Texas in 1979 where he evolved into a scholar in the world's philosophy and religions where he learned to be respectful of all faiths.
He leaned to cherish his memories: his wife Carol Marvel, Daughters Robin (Cornell) Handford and Lois Marvel, Sons David Marvel Jr. and Marcus Marvel, Godson Darryl Butler (deceased), Grandchildren Tyehirrah Tillis and Joi Handford, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
