David Herndon was born August 8, 1957, in Longview, Texas, to the parentage of Dorothy Herndon and Vontyne Guinn. David accepted Christ at an early age at Full Gospel Holy Temple and was a faithful member for a number of years.
He continued his walk with Christ as a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church for over 25 years. During this time, he was a committed and faithful member of the Gooden-Prince choir. David's passion for music was extended throughout the community by lending his vocal talents to various choirs throughout the metroplex.
He received his formal education in the Dallas Independent School District. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1975. Following graduation, he attended Bishop College. He entered the workforce and built a successful career in banking. He was employed at Mercantile, Bank One and Chase Bank.
David was known as "Dale" to the family. He has always been much more like a brother to his cousins and a second father to his nieces, and nephews. Family celebrations will never be the same without David. His parents, preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn two children Darius Herndon (Jacquala), and DeKandryce Herndon-Elliott (Hugh); grandchildren, Mekayla, Jaylin, Darius, Jr. and Tyler; brothers, Marques (Joyce) , Mancel (Nett), Charles, and Ricky; sisters, Murphy, Valarie and Vernice; aunt, Rosie Johnson, very special cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
