Dave Luckey was born to the parents of Raymond and Bernice Allison on January 31, 1926 in Carthage, Texas. He was raised with seven siblings.  Two siblings, Raymond Jr. and Dottie Pryor preceded him in death. He attended Fairplay Elementary. Dave attended Old Bethel Baptist Church. As a child he loved sweets- his mother cakes, sweet potato pies and pineapple upside down cakes. Dave often helped his Mother in the kitchen as an older sibling. He joined the Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church under the late pastor Rev. U.S. Cornelius.

He rode in the local parades, and shared his love of horses with his grandchildren and community youth.

In 1966, Dave married Mary Wright and her two younger children Diane and Yvonne. He shared his love and support becoming a great husband, father, grand and great grandfather.  Education was always revered in the family and Dave worked tirelessly to ensure that his family succeeded. During those family days, Dave enjoyed vacations, rooting for his grandson Jeremy at all the basketball games, attending dance recitals of his granddaughter, Jessica Curtis.  He could always be counted upon to do whatever you needed him to do.

Dave is survived by his wife, Mary Luckey; daughters, Diane Wright Jones and Yvonne Curtis Mots (Jean Francis Mots); grandchildren Jeremy Jones (Kamesha Nelms) and Jessica Curtis; great grands Jaia and Kalea Jones.â  Surviving siblings are Dorothy Sissy Young; Mary Rattler, Essie Taylor, Billy Luckey, Charles Luckey and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends
