Obituary

Dale Christopher "Chris" Parhms a devoted husband, dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend was born the youngest of five children on April 3, 1954, in Bryan, Texas to the late Rosevelt Parhms, Sr. and Florine Pruitt. As a young child, Chris moved with his family to California where he developed a set of life-long friends and an impeccable sense of style.

Chris attended Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles. He valued all that came with growing up, living, and working in Southern California. Chris learned to be a skilled painter by working weekends and summers with his dad. A skill he used as a young man to afford all the fancy custom suits he loved. He retired from truck driving and moved with his family to Cedar Hill, Texas in 2007. He enjoyed life and everyone he met was his friend. If you made eye contact with Chris, you were given a smile and a conversation. Chris has always been passionate about helping young people. He coached youth sports including basketball and football for over 30 years. Chris spent time formally and informally mentoring young men. Chris was an avid racquetball player until an injury. Some of his favorite things were listening to jazz, going to see The O 'Jays in concert, playing chess, hanging out with his friends at the cigar shop, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Chris was proceeded in death by his sister Vernell Parhms and his father-in law, Dr. E.W. McCall, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of thirty-five years Priscilla, sons Darnell (Candice) Parhms and Devin Parhms, a sister Alice (James) Scott, brothers Rosevelt Parhms, Jr and James H. Parhms, mother-in-law Velma McCall, brother-in-law Elisha Wilbert (Debra) McCall, Jr., sister-in-law Yolanda F. McCall, sister-in-law, Deborah Shaw, grandchildren (Eliza and Dylan), aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and loving friends.
