Cornell Hill was born December 27, 1920 to the parents of Cornell and Ellen Gillard Hill in Pendelton, South Carolina. OF the three boys and two girls born to the couple, Cornell was the oldest of the children. Cornell's primary and secondary education was received in the Pendelton Independent School District.

In 1942, Cornell married the love of his life, Jannie Griffin Hill and to this union one child was born, Joan HIll Hodges.

His memories will always be cherished by is loving daughter, Joan Hill Hodges (Alvin), Dallas, Texas; his only granddaughter, Stephanie White; and two grandsons, Da'Rell and Quincy Goodwin of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Allen Hill of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Lottie Wilson of Woodbridge, Virginia and Judy Butler (Aaron) of Detroit, Michigan and a host of other relatives and friends.

The homegoing celebration will commence on Saturday, September 1, 2012 11:00am at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home.
