Obituary

Cornelius Towns, Jr. was born January 26, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the parents of Cornelius and Eartha Towns, Sr. Cornelius graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, Louisiana and, shortly after graduation, enlisted in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, he had the opportunity to travel the world while proudly serving his country. After receiving an honorable discharge, he relocated to Oakland, California, where he met the love of his life, Ladell Porter.

At an early age, Cornelius accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized later in life at Friendship-West Baptist Church. He remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life, faithfully watching Christian television programs and church services daily. He ensured that everyone he encountered knew about Christ.

Cornelius was a dedicated employee for the United States Postal Service, before retiring after 32 years of service.

Known for being a well-groomed man, Cornelius enjoyed stylish clothes, fine jewelry, and fancy cars. He also loved playing golf whenever he had the opportunity. Above all, Cornelius found great joy in providing for his family.

Cornelius (PaPa) especially enjoyed creating nicknames for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bringing laughter and cherished memories to those he loved.

Cornelius is now reunited with his father, Cornelius Towns, Sr.; mother, Eartha Lee Towns;son, Cornelius Towns, III; grandson, Cornelius “Silk” Towns, IV and brother, Nathaniel Towns.

Cornelius will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed, yet never forgotten by: his devoted and faithful wife, Ladell Towns; son, Cornell Towns (Gia); daughters, Gwendolyn LeBranch (Leroy), Kim Mccray; sister, Yolanda Johnson; grandchildren, Ariyana Towns (Fredrick), Corneshia Towns, Giana Towns, Javarie Towns, Tiara Towns (Christopher), Zaria Towns, Tenaya Towns, JaQuan Towns, Zada Towns, Tywanda Bates, Triniece Bridgewater (Michael), Cleopatra LeBranch; elevengreat-grandchildren; nieces;sisters-in-law,Sharon Wills and Toni McClenton, brother-in-law, Rickey McClenton; extended family and amuch-loved friend of the family, Cris Carter.
