Columbus Garrett Jr. began his journey through life on March 31, 1961 born to the parentage of Columbus Garrett Sr. and Blanche Garrett in Dallas, Texas.

Columbus received his formal education from the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1979. He went on to Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas on a basketball scholarship where he received his four year degree in Business and Accounting. He started his career with Greyhound Lines as a computer operator. He would later join Logisticorp at Texas Instruments.

Columbus met the love of his life, Cheryl Douglas in 1986. They were united in marriage on June 27, 1987 and to this union they had 2 sons.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Garrett Sr. and Blanche Garrett; his brothers Willie Garrett and Kenneth Garrett; his nephews, Sedric Punch and Garron Garrett.

He Leaves to cherish his loving memories: wife, Cheryl Garrett; children, Drekeisha Jackson, Bradley McDaniel, Columbus Garrett III, Douglas Garrett, brother, Donald Garrett; sisters, Frankie Garrett Heath, Shirley Garrett Fletcher (Eddie); aunt, Esther Robertson (William), three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
