Clymesol (Sol)
Dantley
May 12, 1930 – October 28, 2021
Celebration of life- Clymesol Dantley
Clymesol Dantley (affectionately known as Sol) was born in Eastman, GA on May 12, 1930 to the late Joe Ashley Dantley and Mable Smith Dantley. He was the youngest of 9 children and was preceded in death by siblings, Clorene Dantley (Suares), John Dantley, Lovie Dantley, Ashley Dantley, George Dantley, and Lillie Dantley (Powell). Sol was described as a child who was quiet in nature and studious at school. These scholarly traits would serve him well in the years ahead. At an early age his family moved to Macon, GA where he resided until enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces in 1951. In Macon, GA, he, and his family were members of The Greater Lizzoboro Baptist Church, where he was baptized and received his religious instruction. Sol was also musically inclined and was the anchor of the Ballard High School Band, playing the tuba throughout his High School years and during his tenure in the Army. He proudly served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1951-1953. After being honorably discharged, Sol moved to Harlem, NY where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. Sol met and married his dear Elizabeth Anderson on December 19, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York where they resided until moving to Queens, NY in the early 60's and becoming faithful stewards of St Albans Baptist Church for over 55 years. While married, he enrolled in Brooklyn College of Pharmacy of Long Island University and graduated with a Degree in Pharmacy in 1959. After graduating from Pharmacy School, he opened Franklin Chemists in Brooklyn, NY where he owned and operated the Pharmacy, proudly serving the Crown Heights community and beyond for over 40 years until retirement… "The road was not easy, but God had not brought him this far to leave him". Following retirement, Clymesol Dantley became a tireless and active member of St. Albans Church where he served as a member of The Trustee Board from 1995-2000 and was Chairman of the Trustee Board from 2001-2002. However, one of his greatest achievements was starting the St. Albans Food Pantry operating out of the St. Albans Community Center. Partnering with local food banks across New York City, the St. Albans Food Pantry served over thousands of members of the community since its inception and thankfully the food pantry is still thriving to this day. He was an active member of the community outreach center as he was an advocate of higher education for all. Bro. Dantley was also a member of the Democratic Club in Queens and a member of the St. James Lodge No. 114 Prince Hall Masonic Lodge. He was also an avid fisherman and would frequently travel along the Northeastern corridor on many fishing trips in his spare time. Bro. Dantley's legacy of stewardship, community service and mentorship live on through his family, and the many lives he touched. "If I can help somebody, as I travel along, No my living shall not be in vain". As his health declined, Brother Dantley continued to accompany his wife to St. Albans Baptist Church on Sundays until they relocated to Dallas, TX in February 2019. He quickly found a church home in Dallas at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. His health care providers always commented on his respectful nature, always shaking hands, holding doors for his wife, and replying with thank you ma'am, or thank you sir. Bro. Clymesol Dantley was called to eternal life on October 28, 2021. He leaves to mourn his passing a devoted and loving wife, Elizabeth Dantley of 66 years! His legacy continues through his 2 daughters, Beverly McIntyre (former spouse -Bill), Dallas, TX, Monica Hunter (Melvin), Riverdale, NY, and one son, Kevin Dantley (Lori), O'Fallon, MO; 8 grandchildren, Calvin Dantley (Belinda), Kelly Thompson (Husani), Keri Davis (Dominique), Christopher McIntyre (Kalli), Carlton McIntyre, Mya Hunter, Mckenzie Hunter and Markus Hunter; 7 great-grandchildren, Christian Dantley, Jett Thompson, Destiny Thompson, Layla Davis, Mica McIntrye, Adalynn McIntyre and Jaelyn McIntyre; 2 brothers, Lee Timothy Dantley (Chicago, IL) and James Smith (Cleveland, OH) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear church family and friends
