Obituary

Clinnon Mayberry graced this world on June 23, 1935 to the parentage of Alto and Gertrude Mayberry in Gonzales, Texas, who preceded him in death. He was educated in the Gonzales Public School System. He was a graduate of Edwards High School Class of 1955. While at high school he had a love and passion for his woodshop class and was a stellar football player.

After graduating from high school Clinnon attended Prairie View A&M University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education and a Master of Education. He was a proud and distinguished member of the graduating class of 1959.

On June 16, 1962, Clinnon was united in holy matrimony to Lois Frederick and together they celebrated thirty-eight years marriage until her death in 2000. To this union one child, Tonya was born.

Clinnon confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and united with Providence Baptist Church in Gonzales, Texas under the pastorage of Rev. W.A. Joshua. After moving to Dallas, he united with the Good Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, worked with the Youth Department and volunteered with the Social Service Center.

Clinnon served faithfully as an educator. He touched the lives of many students as he taught subjects including woodshop, drafting and industrial arts for forty years in the Dallas Independent School District.

He was a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. served as an officer of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and was an active member of the Dallas Alumni Chapter of Prairie View A&M University.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted daughter, Tonya Mayberry; one sister, Lucille Polk, San Antonio, Texas; one brother in law, Lawrence Johnson, Lucas, Texas; two nieces: Andrea Jackson and Sonia Spates (Lamont), San Antonio, TX; two nephews, Leonard (Tyra) Polk, Lancaster, TX; Henry Polk, Fort Worth, TX ;Special Friend Mary Terry, Dallas, TX; God Children: Everett Erving (Vickey), DeShandra O'Neal (Fredrick), LaTanya Pou, and a host of relatives and friends.

The homegoing celebration will commence on Friday, October 19, 2012 11:00am at Good Street Baptist Church, 3110 Bonnie View Road
