Obituary

Clifton Wayne Ellis, the eldest of four children, was born July 20, 1959, to loving parents Clarence Clifton Ellis, Jr. and Madlyn Montgomery Ellis.

He accepted Christ early in life and joined Ezell Chapel CME Church on July 10, 1977 and served our Lord faithfully until his untimely heavenly departure. Led by the Holy Spirit, Cliff devoted his service to the Lord at Ezell Chapel CME Church where he served as an usher, trustee, steward, and finance committee member. He led by example, often letting his light shine in the workplace, with friends and with family.
Cliff began his formal education at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School and graduated in 1977 from David W. Carter High School in the Dallas Public School System. He pursued post-secondary education at El Centro College.
Cliff joined the DART Container Cooperation (Dallas), formerly known as Solo Cup and Sweetheart Cup, on February 22, 1979. He currently worked as a senior maintenance mechanic where he performed critical maintenance functions to service the entire plant. His exemplary service led to receiving recognition and numerous safety awards during his 43 year career. An avid golfer, Cliff shared this love with his dad and brothers, and competed as member of the Fellas Golf Association which was established in 2001. His weekly passion was playing dominoes with the guys, watching sports, and listening to old school music.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Here to cherish his memory is his lovely and devoted wife Brenda Ellis; two children from a previous marriage -- son DaMarcus Ellis; daughter Mar'Que Williams (Ethan Williams); grandson Landon Ellis; granddaughters I'Liyah and I'Ryhanna Williams; dad Clarence C. Ellis Jr.; mother Madlyn Montgomery Ellis; sister Julie Samples (Reginald Samples); brothers Brent Ellis (Samantha Ellis) and Marcus Ellis (Tarhesha Ellis); a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces; and special lifetime friends, Reginald Sherman and Barbara Jernigan.
