Obituary

Cleo Marjorie Chalmers was born on June 4, 1926, in Clayton, TX. She was the eighth of 12 children born to the union of Arthur and Lennie Goodwin Wallace. Cleo attended school in Clayton, TX, where she later pursued cosmetology school and received her cosmetology license. After moving to Dallas, she opened her own beauty shop, becoming an excellent hairstylist known for her hard presses. Her specialties were bumper curls and hard press. She pursued hairstyling until she retired. Cleo met and married her husband, OD Chalmers, on February 11, 1943. They were married for 82 years. From this union, they were blessed with seven children: Henry, Wallace, Gerald, Goldess, Ollie, Ollis, and Barbara. She accepted Christ at a young age at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Clayton, TX. Later, she became a faithful member of West Mt. Horeb Baptist Church for over 30 years, where she served as a Mission Board, President of the Senior Choir, and Women's Day Coordinator. Cleo was a faithful member until her health began to fail, but she always had God present in her life until God called her home on May 13, 2024. Cleo was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Gerald, and her son Henry. She is survived by her husband, OD; two sons, Ollis (Angela) and Wallace; three daughters, Goldess (Leander, deceased), Ollie (Jody, deceased), and Barbara (Hollis); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as her best friend, Bessie Baree. We love and will miss you dearly.
