Obituary

Standing on the promises of God to the very end, Charlotte Ann (Cullins) Hurst, surrounded by her family, departed this life on Monday, August 29, 2022. Ironically, she transitioned to eternal life on her mother's birthday.

Charlotte was born on November 13, 1944 in Lewisville, Arkansas to the parentage of Roosevelt, Sr. and Irene Cullins. She was a mighty woman of God, who accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Charlotte strongly believed in a personal relationship with Christ and the importance of church membership. During her spiritual walk, Charlotte was a member of Deliverance Revival Tabernacle and Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas where she was a Sunday School teacher and active member in various ministries. After moving to Columbus, Charlotte became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. At the time of her passing, Charlotte was a member of the First Church of God, where she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and Through His Eyes Ministries.

Charlotte was educated in Lewisville public schools and graduated in 1961. She began her college education at Jarvis Christian College and North Texas State University. Ultimately, she attained her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2015 at the age of 70.

Charlotte married her college sweetheart, Arthur (AG) Hurst, Sr. in 1964. They shared 44 years together until his passing. This union was blessed with three children: Cassandra, Cecilia, and Arthur "Art" Jr.

Charlotte began her professional life in property management in the Dallas area, before transitioning her employment to the Department of Defense (DOD) in 1984. Her DOD career continued with her relocation to Columbus, OH, in 1989. She worked in numerous Financial Analyst and Managerial positions at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), before retiring in 2007.

Charlotte had a giving spirit and poured into the lives of many. As the President of the Zodiac Supper Club, she participated in the raising of funds for collegiate scholarships. She was a valiant intercession prayer warrior, whose meditative spirit and inspirational writings helped many during difficult times.

Charlotte created a warm home where you always felt comfortable and welcomed. She was an excellent cook and expressed her love through sharing food. You would leave her home with a warm hug and a full belly. Charlotte was known as "mom" to many.

She was preceded in death by her husband AG Hurst, her parents, five sisters: Clara Washington, Maggie Phillips, Love Haynes, Lucille Cullins, and Sandra Williams; two brothers: O.C. Cullins and Roosevelt Cullins Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children: Cassandra McDuff, Cecilia Hurst, and Arthur (Hope) Hurst Jr.; her grandchildren: Ceaser "Antoine" McDuff, Tempestt McDuff, Constance McDuff, Armani Wooden, Arthur Hurst III "Trae", and Johnathan Hurst; great-grandchildren: Kashmire McDuff and Chase McDuff; brothers: Simon Cullins Sr., Joseph (Shirley) Cullins, Thelvie (Mary) Cullins Sr., Peter (Linda) Cullins Sr. and Edward Cullins; sisters: Helen (Alix) Beaujour, Mildred (Clarence) Pierce, Faye Scott and Annetta Cullins; extended brothers: Ross ( Dandy) Cullins and Ray (Valencia) Walker; extended sisters: Melba Perkins, Sheila Watson, Barbara Cooper and Marva Morgan; son-in-law Ceaser McDuff; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
