Was born March 25,1947 in Gilmer, Texas to R.J and Daisy Johnson. She graduated from Bruce High School and later in life attended Eastfield College to obtain a certification in early childhood education. She was baptized at Pine Grove Baptist Church at a early age. Celesstene was a member of Southern Crest Full Gospel.

In 1971 she married James J. Matthews and to this union three children where born. She owned and operated KTM Daycare until she retired in 2000 returning to work for Dallas ISD and Acreta Screens.

Celesstene was precede in death by both parents R.J and Daisy Johnson, five brothers, Two sisters and her daughter Kendra Matthews Freeman. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband James Matthews, daughter Tinna Matthews-Brooks ( Marvin),son Marlon Matthews,6 grandchildren, 1 brother Randolph Johnson and a host of other family members and friends.
