Obituary

Carolyn J. Hudson's life story began on March 14, 1950, in Hartford Connecticut. The third child of eight, she was born to George & Rebecca Hudson. Carolyn was born with a hole in her heart and at the age of 12 she became one of the first people in the United States to receive open heart surgery. This would be the beginning of a thread that would be woven into the person that we experienced as Carolyn Jean Hudson, an overcomer.

As a person filled with life, faith, dreams and the biggest heart, Carolyn was destined to leave an indelible mark as an entrepreneur, speaker, published author, advocate, Master Herbalist and most of all, as a Holy Spirit-filled Minister of the Gospel driven by her deeply personal introduction and acceptance of the Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1982.

Her early education was experienced in the Hartford Public School System where she graduated from Weaver High School. Higher education included a degree from Capital College studying accounting and eventually led her to Texas when she received her degree from the Art Institute of Dallas as a study in fashion and jewelry making. Eventually this led to her starting a company called "C Jean Designs" as a maker of jewelry for the retail market.

Having been victorious over victimization and her will to live past traumatic situations, Carolyn founded Silent Screams Inc., an organization that has helped her to advocate for victims of assaults who either rendered themselves silent or were told to be silent. Her voice could be heard through events, speaking engagements, her radio broadcasts, or simply by individuals having a one-on-one encounter with her where she listened, encouraged, and ministered healing through Christ.

Carolyn believed that ALL things were possible. Her Christmas list at one time included her desire to have grandchildren and that wish was fulfilled. Carolyn served in many organizations including Crime Victims Council of Dallas and the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault and received many awards of achievements. Though her accomplishments were quite admirable, she deemed her greatest work in life, other than ministry, as the birthing of her two sons, David & Quinton, and being "Grammy C" to her grandchildren Samaiah and Joshua.

Carolyn chronicled her life journey with Christ in a book she titled "Samaiah Grandma & the King" a legacy left for her first and only granddaughter. Carolyn a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and compassionate friend with an unwavering devotion to God. Her purpose was truly lived from 1950-2023.

Forever cherishing her memory are sons, David J. Milner (Valerie), Quinton B. Milner, grandchildren, Samaiah G. & Joshua D. Milner, siblings, Jon William "Billy" Hudson, Margie Hudson, Shirley Hudson, Bernard Hudson (Lilith), Beverly Hudson, Cecil D. Hudson, and Joyce Hudson, all of Connecticut along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and co-laborers in the Gospel
