Carla D. Johnson was born May 10, 1967, in Mount Pleasant, TX to the parentage of Claudie J. and Erma Jean Miller. At an early age Carla accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of First Church of God in Christ. Carla attended school in the Mt. Pleasant Independent School District where she served as a member of various student organizations and excelled in sports.
After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1986 she attended Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, Texas where she remained an active student participating in weightlifting and receiving first place in several competitions. After graduating with her Associates degree in Business Carla transferred to Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
In 1989 Carla met the love of her life Johnathan Johnson, a single father of a toddler Jessika. Carla loved them both and raised Jessika as her own. They married in 1998 to this union a son was born, LaDarion. To say Carla loved her family is an understatement she cherished her family, immediate family, extended family, all her in-laws, out-laws, grandbabies, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and fur babies Johnny and Chris Johnson, virtually everyone she encountered. Carla was the glue that held it all together. She served her family and others and always sent a text or an email to wish you Happy Birthday and was faithful to share a daily word from God!
To know her was to know that Carla was a woman of God. When she moved to Dallas, she joined First Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C. and served in the choir, thereafter she joined New Calvary C.O.G.I.C. More recently as a member of Koinonia Christian Church, Carla served as a greeter, and on the new membership committee.
In her professional career Carla worked for the Dodge Frazier Accounting firm, Olan Mills, Gables, and Highmark Residential. For over 20 years, Carla served as an apartment manager. In her role as Apartment Manager Carla was known for her radiant smile, intelligence, compassion, and dedication to the job and to those she served.
Carla was an active member of the Corvette Club and Dodge Car Club. She was a nurture and loved to work in the community with these and other organizations to help others.
Carla was a devoted mother of two, a wife, grandmother, daughter, and friend and on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, her earthly assignment ended. Carla was preceded in death by her father Claudie J. Miller, Sr., mother-in-law Wilma Phifer, father-in-law(s) William Phifer Sr., and Elder John H. Johnson Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Johnathan; her children Jessika and LaDarion; her grandchildren Hailee; Landyn, Khloe, and coming soon Kenneth, Jr.; her mother Erma Jean Miller of Mt Pleasant; her brother(s): Stanley J. Miller (Brenda), and Claudie J. Miller, Jr. of Dallas and Micheal A. Miller of Mt Pleasant; her sister(s): Jennifer L. Miller, Claudette M. Miller and Lucy Davis of Mt Pleasant; her brother-in-law Dr. John H. Johnson, Jr. (Brittany) and sister-in-law(s) Malissa Johnson Kaiser (Roderick), and Willonda Phifer; aunts & uncles: Loudessa "Tookie" Miller of Dallas, Billy Jack Miller (Jewel) of Dangerfield, Alice Cline (Len) of DeSoto, Evelyn Johnson of Texarkana, Carolyn Minter (Lewis) of Mt Pleasant, TX and a host of nieces & nephews, great nieces & great nephews, a great-great nephew, cousins and friends.
