Calvin Russell
Wallace, Sr.
December 20, 1948 – August 6, 2021
"Hey Poppi!" Ah...the name that brought a big smile to his face. The grands were visiting and promises of fun soon to be had by all and just as important, they probably brought him Chocolate Orange. He always felt blessed to have had the privilege of being a part of their lives from infancy to adulthood.
Calvin "Russ" Wallace was born to Robert and Carsie (Russaw) Wallace in Tulsa, Ok. After graduation from high school he attended Northeastern University in Tahlequah then joined the US Air Force where he was assigned to the Military Police unit. Being of small statue (at the time) he often wondered if he would be up to the task. He survived with new found skills he would be proud of throughout his lifetime.
After discharge he enrolled at The University of Tulsa and majored in Management and Economics. This led him directly into the Oil and Gas industry with Amoco Standard Oil, Petro-Lewis and Cities Service where he was to spend the next 40 years moving with family in tow across the country where he honed his skills as a Business Analyst and made lifelong friends. He later ventured into Telecommunications until his retirement.
Calvin was a man of integrity, formality and from a young age possessed a deep love of and faith in God. He attended Dallas Theological Seminary and continued an intense daily Bible study until his passing. One of his most joyous days was his ordination as a Deacon at North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship where he served on the Financial Committee and sang in the Men's Choir.
Love of family was one of his favorite Dad Duties he really took to heart. Whether it was seeing Jaina select her first formal, drive her to piano lessons or coaching Rusty's Soccer team to victory from ages 6 to 16. He still got a kick when he heard the occasional "Hey Coach" from his former soccer kids. His handyman skills made short work of any Honey Do lists his wife could throw at him.
He leaves to celebrate his home going: wife Stella; children, Jaina Martin (Ray) and Calvin "Rusty" Wallace; grandchildren, Adrian Martin (Ana); JaRaia Dickinson (Jared); Angel Martin; Raina Marin; Charles Russell Martin and Ray L. Martin, all of Tulsa; sister, Robbie Siamwiza (Mwindaace), Lusaka, Zambia, and a host of loving family and friends.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carsie Wallace and brother, John Weldon Wallace.
