Buddie Gene
Watson
December 18, 1943 – November 21, 2024
"And he said unto them, hinder me not, seeing the Lord hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my Master." ~ Genesis 24:56
Buddie Gene Watson was born December 18, 1943 in Cass County, Marietta, Texas, the fifth child of the late Mr. Deweader Watson and Mrs. Viola Neal Watson. Buddie accepted Christ at an early age under the pastoral guidance of Reverend EL Holmes and united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Buddie had a love for rightly dividing the word of God and a heart for old time spiritual music. He later United with the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Reverend Sheppard.
Buddie attended the community school Bethlehem Elementary and was a proud member of the 1962 Graduating class of George Washington Carver High School, Naples-Omaha, Texas.
After Buddie completed his high school education, he moved to Dallas residing with his eldest brother, Reafes "Bob" Watson and sister –in-law, Ima Jean. On October 3, 1963, Buddie married the most beautiful girl in the world, the love of his life, Elizabeth Wilson-Watson. They shared four children. Buddies's earliest employment led him to the Cowboy's Restaurant on Lamar Avenue in Dallas where he served as a dishwasher. Buddie later garnered a job as a metroplex delivery truck driver. Indeed, truck driving turned out to be his niche as he later joined the Gordon-Denver Trucking Company, where he drove big rigs for many years before semi-retiring and starting his entrepreneurial pursuits in real estate. Buddie enjoyed working in his real estate business and partnered with several of his brothers and brothers-in-law in many successful ventures. After fully retiring he enjoyed filling his days with western movies and down-home southern blues music, his favorite being Muddy Waters. One of his greatest passions was his mastery of the ins and outs of the culinary art of BBQ cuisine. He was a very proficient pitmaster. Buddie enjoyed life, his family and most particularly he enjoyed reminiscing over old times. But even the best memories could no longer compare to the journey to before him.
On November 21, 2024, Buddie bid his earthly loves and farewell and answered the clarion call of the Angels summoning him to his Heavenly Father, beckoning him to a new home over in Zion.
Buddie will now share eternal memories with his wife of fifty-five years, Elizabeth Watson.
Buddie leaves to cherish his earthly memories: children, Gary K. Watson (Kimberly), Jermard Van Ashley Watson, Stanley Wilson (Lori) and Tiffany Racquel Watson (preceded him in death); grandchildren, Kiadra A. Wilson, Jada D. Wilson-DeDonder, Tyrese J. Michael-Wilson, Gary Rashad Watson and Tiffany Kyna Watson; great-grandchildren, Karter Rashad Watson and Harlem Drue Edwards.
Buddie also leaves his siblings a legacy of love: Dorothy Warren, Doris Cotton, Nellie McGuire (Elihu), Bessie McGuire (Lawrence), Earlene Young (Charles), Martha Kilgore (Robert), Debra Watson, Kimberly Watson and Aaron Watson. James Watson, Reafes Watson, Charles Watson and Leroy Watson preceded him in death; a great wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends will long treasure his memory.
